Small Surf Dogs and Safety!

Small dogs have a disadvantage in that they do not weigh enough to keep the surfboard going in a straight line.

With no weight over the fins, the surfboard is going to turn or pearl throwing the dog off the surfboard. (Photo A)

Some owners have taken to adding weight to their surfboards. (Photo B)
This is very dangerous!
Please Don't do this!

Can you imagine if the surfboard in Photo C had a weight on it?
Not only is the surf dog in danger but other dogs, owners, volunteers, spectators and rescue personnel would be in danger of being hit.

We hope future Surf Dog Competitions do not allow this sort of dangerous modification to a surfboard to be used in a competition.

Hopefully someone, sometime in the near future will develop a SAFE way to help smaller dogs surf safely!

Ricochet's non fiction book came out June 3rd,
so she is having a public book signing this Wednesday, July 9th.
at Barnes & Noble in Mira Mesa from 7pm to 9pm.
