This weekend (March 18th, 2017) the short film “Chandler’s Ark” was featured at the 2017 SLO Film Festival in San Luis Obispo, California. Representing the SoCal Surf Dogs at the event was Surf Dog Gidget! Trailer for Event: Here’s the trailer for the short: Professional surfer, shaper, and animal lover Scott Chandler sets out on a quest to break the world record for dog surfing. Chandler's Ark shows Scott's journey from constructing his massive fifteen-foot board, to practice days at dog beach, all the way to his attempt for the world record in San Diego, CA. We get a unique inside perspective of the determination it takes when setting out to break a world record and how one boat sized surfboard brought together a team of friends to make it all possible.
Leave it to Professional Surfer Scott Chandler to go BIG! On Saturday June 16th, 2012 at the Loews Coronado Bay Resort's Surf Dog Competition, Scott set 4 new world records. 1. The most dogs surfing on one surfboard. (17) 2. The most dogs surfing on one surfboard tandem with a human. (Scott Chandler) 3. The most dogs surfing on one surfboard tandem with a human paddling. (Scott Chandler) 4. The most dogs surfing on one surfboard tandem surfing with more than one human. (Scott and Tyler Chandler) The SoCal Surf Dogs were proud and honored to be a part of these records. Scott custom made a 15 foot long surfboard (the DogCraftCarrier) just for these records. 2017 Rose Parade SoCal Surf Dogs Haole and Turbo have been selected
to ride on the Lucy Pet Foundations "Gnarly Crankin' K9 Wave Maker Float" in the 2017 Rose Parade! The 125-foot float will carry a 90-foot long wave tank containing 8,000 gallons of water and a wave-making machine capable of producing a perfect wave every five seconds. It’s with indescribable heartache I share with you that my Nani passed away on December 2nd, 2016,
in my arms, under the care and incredible compassion of the doctors and staff at the Veterinary Specialty Hospital in Sorrento Valley, San Diego, California. She was 12 years and 9 months old. She was the reason I founded the SoCal Surf Dogs group and created the SoCal Surf Dogs website. Nani changed my life in ways too numerous to mention here. I met most of you because of her. My house, like my heart, is so empty now. I already miss her so much.
