How can you ensure that the holidays will be safe and sane for you and your pets? Here’s your chance to be your pet’s best friend and health ally. Pet Tech certified instructor/animal behaviorists Arden Moore will be hosting a special Pet First Aid, CPR and Wellness Class on November 18, 2012 Sign up today – space is limited to the first 10! The SoCal Surf Dogs are very excited about providing the very important class to all our members! Pet First Aid, CPR and Care Course Description Class Date: Sunday, November 18, 2012 Hours: 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Please arrive 5-10 minutes early as we start on time. (A light lunch will be provided.) Location: Peter Noll’s home, 11554 Parkhurst Square, San Diego, CA 92130. Gate code: 9431. Course fee: $90 per person or $150 per couple from same household. What will be covered: This hands-on training course will teach you a variety of skills that can be used to stabilize a pet during an emergency and preventive care. You will learn Pet CPR, rescue breathing, first aid, restraining and muzzling, choking management, fractures/bleeding protocols, care for heatstroke, frostbite, poisoning, seizures, shock and more. This special class will also cover: Water safety, including care for jellyfish stings, salt water dehydration and drowning. Each student will have use of a demo dog and first aid supplies during class. What to bring: Wear loose-fitting clothing, bring a notepad and pen. What NOT to bring: Sorry NO pets – they are too cute and distractive. However, you will get to practice your skills on demo stuffed dogs AND Peter’s Nani and Kiki, plus Arden’s very tolerant cat, Zeki. Homework assignment: Please send photos of your dogs and cats by November 14, as an email attachments to Arden ([email protected]). We will salute all the pets in a special presentation at the beginning of class. Please identify each pet by name. Upon completion: You will receive the PetSaver handbook, Wallet Emergency Card, Pet First Aid Certificate valid for 2 years. Saturday, June 16, 2012, Scott Chandler will attempt to set 4 world records at the Loews Coronado Bay Resort's Surf Dog Competition by surfing the most dogs on one surfboard, the most dogs tandem with a human, the most dogs with a human paddling on a SUP and the most dogs with more than one human. The ASPCA is the beneficiary of this event. On Sunday, June 10th 2012, the SoCal Surf Dogs joined Scott at Dog Beach in Del Mar to practice the logistics required to make this happen. Purina Incredible Dog Challenge Surf Dog Competition will be held this Friday, June 8th at 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at Dog Beach in Ocean Beach, San Diego, California. Come cheer on the Best of the Best as the go Nose to Nose in Small Dog, Large Dog and Human / Dog Tandem heats. The SoCal Surf Dogs will be well represented at this competition!
