Kenzie came into our world. In April 2010 we lost our first Aussie to cancer. In addition, with our two daughters recently off to college, we were feeling the effects of empty nest syndrome. So as you can imagine our hearts were broken over the loss of our family member and the house was eerily quiet. In March 2011, Tim decided we had waited long enough and we were GETTING another dog. At that time I was CERTAIN that no “dog” could fill the hole in my heart and was pretty much against the idea. On March 6, 2011, Tim came upon a breeder and against my wishes he began researching their website. As he clicked the link “available,” Kenzie’s face appeared and she literally took my breath away. She was the last one left in her litter. I knew at that very instant she was “the one” and the words “I love her” came out of my mouth. It truly was love at first sight. On March 13, 2011, Kenzie came home and completed the Mills family. Kenzie is named after a character on NCIS-LA. We were watching the show the night the breeder called and told us she was ours. This little girl has not only filled that hole in my heart but she has filled our home with smiles, laughter and joy. Kenzie is very active and up to doing just about anything that we ask of her. From sports, to camping, to dressing up in mom’s crazy costume ideas - - Kenzie does it all with a smile. Although Tim has surfed for over 45 years, getting Kenzie on a board was my idea at the encouragement of Dawn Celapino of Leash Your Fitness. So on July 14, 2012 with the help of Dawn and Peter Noll we launched Kenzie on her first wave. Kenzie was a natural! I don’t want to say she loved it but she definitely was not hating it either.
