SO CAL SURF DOGS

We WON!
The SoCal Surf Dogs entry for the 2012 Helen Woodward Animal Center's
Surf-A-Thon Billboard Contest took first place!
At the same time we successfully raised more funds for
the Animal Center to continue their good work!
This photo will be seen on several Billboards throughout San Diego
during August and September in 2012 to help promote
the Helen Woodward Animal Center's Surf Dog Surf-A-Thon.
Congratulations to all the SoCal Surf Dogs who participated in the photo shoot!
Special thanks to Keith and Suzie Sears for the use of their awesome Woodie
and to Dale Porter from Killer Image for capturing the stoke!
Woof!

It was reported that there was a new sewage spill at 8th Street in Del Mar.
The beach is close for 1000 feet north and south of 8th street in Del Mar.
All other locations in Del Mar are clean.
Dog Beach in Del Mar is well outside of this restricted area.

The Helen Woodward Surf-A-Thon will proceed as scheduled on Sunday, September 25th from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm at Dog Beach in Del Mar.
See you there!
SoCal Surf Dogs!

SoCal Surf Doggies,
If you have not heard the news, here you go….
1.     The Helen Woodward Animal Center’s Surf –A-Thon has been canceled.
The unprecedented power outage we experienced on Thursday afternoon caused a major sewage spill at Torrey Pines Beach!
Beaches have been closed from La Jolla to Solana Beach.
The Event has been rescheduled for September 25, 2011.
For more details, got to: http://surfdog.kintera.org/faf/home/default.asp?ievent=465235
2.      The Surf City Surf Dog Competition was also scheduled for the same day.
I spoke with Lisa Scolman this morning.
She told me she was not sure what they were going to do.
She is busy with an event scheduled for this weekend and said she would decide on Monday what to do.
I will update everyone as soon as I hear!
I really hope they can pull the “rabbit out of the hat” and make their event happen! Keep your fingers crossed!

Yes, we are all saddened by these unforeseen events, but let’s not dwell on the bad news but rather do what we can to help both of these wonderful organizations have successful events however we can.

So, I light of these unforeseen events,
the SoCal Surf Dogs have decided to get together
and surf with our best buddies at:
Dog Beach in Ocean Beach
Sunday, September 11th, 2011
9:00 am to 12:00 pm
Join us for a surf session with our surf dogs!

Currently Dog Beach in Ocean Beach is not affected by the sewage spill.
You can get the latest up to date beach closure status at:
