The best surf dogs showed up for the most competitive surf competition yet, The 6th annual Helen Woodward Animal Center's Surf Dog Surf-A-Thon! A hugh crowd came to cheer on the best of the best! No tricks, stunts or Drama Queens, just hard core Surf Dogs doing their thing!! The surf was great despite the 'Red Tide'. Buddy the Jack Russel Terrier from Venture took first place and was the First Surf Dog Entered into the 'Surf Dog Hall of Fame'. Buddy you ROCK! SoCal Surf Dog Nani, a Bernese Mountain Dog, won second place and SoCal Surf Dog Dozer an English Bulldog (AKA 'Da Bull') won third. The SoCal Surf Dogs won the 'Doo the Dah as Well! (We will post all the winners in all the heats in another post) The SoCal Surf Dogs cleaned up again! Woof! The Biggest and most prestigious Surf Dog Competition in America (and the world for that matter) with the most Surf Dogs (over 80) takes place tomorrow at Dog Beach in Del Mar. (September 25th, 2011 The Helen Woodward Animal Center's Surf Dog Surf-A-Thon. Witness the worlds best Surf Dog and the first inductee into the Surf Dog Hall of Fame, "Buddy" surfing with the best Surf Dogs in America! You want to be the best? You need to beat the best! No gimmicks, tricks or stunts, just surfing! Woof!!! It was reported that there was a new sewage spill at 8th Street in Del Mar. The beach is close for 1000 feet north and south of 8th street in Del Mar. All other locations in Del Mar are clean. Dog Beach in Del Mar is well outside of this restricted area. The Helen Woodward Surf-A-Thon will proceed as scheduled on Sunday, September 25th from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm at Dog Beach in Del Mar. See you there! SoCal Surf Dogs! The unprecedented power outage we experienced on Thursday afternoon caused a major sewage spill at Torrey Pines Beach! Beaches have been closed from La Jolla to Solana Beach. The Surf City Surf Dog Competition was also scheduled for the same day. I spoke with Lisa Scolman this morning. She told me she was not sure what they were going to do. She is busy with an event scheduled for this weekend and said she would decide on Monday what to do. I will update everyone as soon as I hear! I really hope they can pull the “rabbit out of the hat” and make their event happen! Keep your fingers crossed! Yes, we are all saddened by these unforeseen events, but let’s not dwell on the bad news but rather do what we can to help both of these wonderful organizations have successful events however we can.
